Hello

My name is Jason Harper. I am an Architect based in New York City, usually planning hospitals somewhere in the world. On the side, I have a passion for working in clay. This passion started way back in school, but then went dormant for many years during a busy career and family life. I got back into working with clay in 2016 or so through some courses at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester NY, and then, after moving back to NYC in 2018, at Sculpture Space in Long Island City. These experiences rekindled my love for this stuff and brought back the memory of dormant skills. During the pandemic I finally got serious and set up my own studio with my own wheel and kiln in Dutchess County NY, about two hours north of NYC and have been developing it for the past two years. I get in there as much as I can to throw new pots and move them along in the process of becoming finished work. There are many challenges along the way and there is so much more to learn...
